The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on Colombia since its onset in 2020. Restrictions, lockdowns, and social distancing measures have been implemented by the country to contain the virus spread. Significant losses were experienced by the economy, especially in the tourism sector. The healthcare system faced challenges due to the high demand for medical attention. Mass vaccination campaigns have been carried out throughout the country, achieving immunization of a considerable portion of the population. Preexisting social and economic inequalities were also brought to light by the pandemic, but acts of solidarity and cooperation were also generated. Although progress has been made, Colombia continues to face challenges in managing the pandemic and recovering from its long-term effects.
